Anna Gonzalez - Warrenpoint Maiden (Winner 2012/13)

Anna plays classical violin, traditional fiddle and sings. Anna can sing in a number of languages including French, German, Italian, Spanish and Gaelic Irish. She also gives singing lessons to a wide range of pupils privately in her own home. Anna also enjoys playing tennis, cycling and walking and is currently writing a children’s novel. Anna has stage 4 sailing, grade 8 traditional fiddle, classical violin and singing. Anna has previously taken part in the Maiden of the Mournes Festival in 2007 when she was chosen as the first ever Teen Maiden. Anna hopes to become a successful theatre actress.

Niamh Serridge - Burren Maiden

In her early years Niamh went to both Ballet and Irish dancing classes and has competed in many classes and grades. Earlier this year she joined the Bosco Scor team. Currently in her last year at Sacred Heart Grammar School, Niamh hopes to go on and study nursing in either Queens or John Moore’s university in Liverpool. Niamh works part-time in the Kabin and in her spare time she enjoys going for walks and socialising with friends.

Daria Denisova - Russian Maiden

One of Daria’s hobbies is snowboarding, she loves snow and has enjoyed snowboarding for the past eight years. Daria used to work as a snowboard instructor at a few ski resorts in Russia. She also enjoys dancing, photography and travel. Daria came to Northern Ireland last September after she had finished university, having  gained a degree in Public Relations. As part of a special exchange program she got the opportunity to work in Newry and Mourne District Council for one year.

Elizabeth Lane - San Diego Maiden

Elizabeth loves to be active in various fitness activities, her hobbies include a variety of activities, such as hiking and kickboxing at the gym. Elizabeth is pursuing a career as a sports reporter, as she enjoys researching and watching sports in her spare time. Another hobby Elizabeth enjoys is her community service work. Recently she raised $6,000 for the “Save a Life Walk” in memory of her cousin EJ. Elizabeth also enjoys hands on charity work as well as helping out at a local middle school as a volleyball coach.

Grace McKevitt - Banbridge Maiden

Grace’s hobbies from an early age have included the arts quite significantly. Grace has been in Newry Pantomime since the age of three, and has been a member of the Crawford speech and drama, Rozlyn Sheridan Stage School and a member of Newry Youth Dance Company. Grace has also recently graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a 2:1 BA HONS in Dance, with Drama and Theatre Studies and hopes to pursue a career in teaching.

Jeanette McKee - Clare Maiden

Jeanette has just finished her third year of nursing at UCD and is going into her final year in September. Jeanette’s hobbies include; singing, dancing, acting,

listening to music, spending time with her family and friends, photography, nature walks, reading, travelling, working out in the gym and playing with her three cats

and dog. Jeanette works part time as a children’s entertainer for her parents entertainment business and is a professional face painter, balloon artist and choreographer. For her summer job in 2011 she was one of four children’s entertainers on board the Oscar Wilde, one of Irish Ferries luxury liners which goes to and from

France. Jeanette has also been involved in musicals with Shannon Musical Society and UCD’s Musical Society and is also part of UCD’s Fusion Crew; a dance troupe

which combines a range of dance styles such as jazz, contemporary and tap and have performed in competitions and UCD’s 2012 Fashion Show.

Jentry Lynn Womack - Southern Pines Maiden

Jentry loves to make and be around music of all types. She has won various awards singing solo and has also received praise from adjudicators in chorale ensembles and youth ensembles. In her spare time, she enjoys playing piano and flute and is learning the guitar. Jentry has begun teaching others at her school by teaching

a student director in both choir and theatre. She has also pioneered a charity project to gather up choir dresses for other choirs in her county that can’t afford dresses of their own

Mary Kate Gallagher - Pittsburgh Maiden

Mary Kate is currently a senior in high school. She loves music, sports and being with her family. In both her junior and senior years she was selected as volleyball team caption and was selected for the WPIAL second team. In track she made it to WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania High School Sports league) championship tournament and received the most improved award. Mary Kate hopes to play volleyball in college and break the high jump record in her school. Her ambition is to become an early

elementary teacher.

Michelle O’Hagan - Omeath Maiden

Michelle is twenty two years of age and lives in Corrakitt, Omeath,Co. Louth. She has recently sat her final exams in Dublin City University studying Business and Marketing. Michelle takes a keen interest in sport and is an active member of her local gealic football club Cuchulainn Geals, where she is a member of the ladies football team, active committee helper and assists with coaching of the U10s football team. Nichola Watson - Rostrevor Maiden

Nichola’s hobbies include Irish Dancing, in which she is part of an Irish/River Dance troupe called “Jig”, which perform at many events such as weddings and charity events. Nichola achieved 10 GCSE’s and 3 AS grades in Sociology, Health & Social Care and ICT. In September 2011 Nichola visited Kenya for two weeks with St. Marks

High School and helped build a classroom onto the local Primary School and teach the students. In September Nicola will be attending the Southern Regional College in Newry to start her training in order to become a Beauty Therapist.

Nikki Magee - Louth Maiden

Nikki is currently studying music in the University of Liverpool. She has been playing the harp and the trumpet since she was eight years old. Nikki has also taught herself the piano and guitar. Nikki also has her own pop/rock band and is in many different orchestras and jazz bands. She also plays the Pedal harp at weddings and

Emma Carr - Teen Maiden

Emma is 15 years old and attends Saint Louis Grammar School in Kilkeel. Emma has loved to dance from a young age, and aspires to pursue a career in the field of sports and dance. She loves to be active and attend various classes in The Studio. Emma has participated in Warrenpoint’s annual Pantomime for 8 years and thoroughly enjoys taking part in events and voluntary work in the local area. Emma has been volunteering in Happy Faces NI for over two years now and enjoys working with children.
